Processed Fish Storage
Whether you take home 100 or 500 pounds of processed fish from Admiralty Island, you’ll need to store it properly. We’ll package your bounty, but what you do afterward depends on your preferences. All your fish should stay frozen until you’re ready to prepare it. Keep in mind that fish usually lasts only about two days off the ice before its quality diminishes. Thawing your fish in the refrigerator is the best way to maintain its quality. Some people will use the thaw setting on their microwave or leave it at room temperature, which we don’t recommend. After your filets thoroughly thaw, it’s time to start seasoning them and preparing a delicious meal!
